Lobel’s Branches Out in New York with Lobel’s Kitchen
Lobel Family’s New High-End Take-Out Store To Open in December on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

NEW YORK, NY (November 14, 2012) – Famed New York City butcher Lobel’s is expanding with a second store in Manhattan, slated to open in December. Lobel’s Kitchen will specialize in premium take-out foods, cured and fresh meats, and other speciality foods. Occupying the corner of Third Avenue at 61st Street in the Trump Plaza Apartments building, Lobel’s Kitchen will showcase the foods of Lobel’s and the talents of chef Rolf Baumann.

Owned by the Lobel family, whose butcher shop, Lobel’s Prime Meats, has been a New York City institution for nearly 70 years, the new Lobel’s Kitchen will feature a take-out menu of prepared foods made with the finest Lobel’s meats and other ingredients. An array of main courses and side dishes, all made on-site, will be complemented by a broad selection of salads, soups, stews, artisan cheeses and even craft beers.

“Lobel’s Kitchen is about the finest ingredients and first-rate customer service without a lot of fuss,” noted co-owner Stanley Lobel. “It’s a take-out shop that lets customers enjoy a meal as if it were prepared by a private chef. We stand behind everything we make.”

The new Lobel’s Kitchen will capture the look of a clean, classic New York City retail establishment, with terrazzo floors, gleaming stainless steel cases and slatted oak panel walls. A vibrant kitchen will draw in guests with its energy and mouth-watering aromas, while a progression of food stations and display cases will tempt customers with a broad selection of foods for take-out. With glass walls on three sides, Lobel’s Kitchen will show passers by a warm space, brimming with an inviting display of fine foods and crowned by the commanding red Lobel’s brand across the mezzanine façade. Fourteen counter/café seats will be available in the store for self-service.

Lobel’s Kitchen will offer a limited selection of fresh meats, including USDA prime and dry-aged beef, veal, lamb, pork and poultry. For customers interested in a broader selection of fresh meats, a red “hotline” will connect directly to Lobel’s Prime Meats on Madison Avenue. Delivery by Lobel’s Kitchen will be available between 40th and 90th streets, river to river. In addition to its retail business, Lobel’s Kitchen will offer Lobel’s-style catering for special events and personal home and business catering needs, including Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Additional information will be available at www.lobelskitchen.com or by calling the store at 212-317-0200. Lobel’s Kitchen is located at 1030 Third Avenue (at 61st Street in Trump Plaza), New York, NY 10065. It will be open seven days a week during the holidays, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Lobel’s is a five-generation family butcher that has been in business since 1840. Owners Stanley, Mark, David and Evan Lobel are among the city’s best-known butchers, and they have built a nationally acclaimed online business for their gourmet meats (www.lobels.com), which does a strong holiday business in gifts and foods for family entertaining. Lobel’s has also become a visible presence at Yankee Stadium and MetLife Stadium, where the Prime Steak Sandwich is a signature item.
