Fresh Polish Bratwurst

These sausage links have the flavor profile and garlicky nuances of kielbasa. Lobel’s Polish Sausage, however, is a fresh—not smoked—version. A traditional, country-style sausage of coarsely ground pork, our Polish sausage has a meaty texture that bursts with flavor and juiciness.

Fresh Polish Bratwurst is available in 1-pound packages, 3 sausages per pack.

Preparing Fresh Sausages

Fresh sausages should be simmered before a final browning in the same pan or on the grill. All of the fresh sausages we sell through Lobel’s Sausage Shop can be simply prepared using the following method regardless of the sausage link’s size.
  1. Place sausages in a frying or sauté pan just big enough to hold them in a single layer.
  2. Fill pan with water to a depth of about 1/4 inch.
  3. Simmer sausages until the water has evaporated.
  4. To brown the sausages:
    • Add a small amount of oil to the pan—be sure the pan is dry to avoid spattering. Cook gently over medium heat until sausages are browned. Do not cook too hot or too fast or the fragile casings will break.
    • If preparing sausages for the grill, remove from pan after simmering and grill over moderate heat.
