For over 65 years, Manhattan’s elite have trusted the Lobel family to be their source for the world’s best meat and old-fashioned, personalized customer service. Whether we’re recommending a particular cut, suggesting a recipe, or sharing cooking tips, our goal is to provide every customer with a peak dining experience—every single time you purchase from us.

Lobel's Tradition

“… rated tops in taste … Testers called Lobel's 'delectable' and said they could cut the steaks with a fork.” —Good Housekeeping, November 2001

That's the taste of over 175 years of Lobel family experience as renowned practitioners of the butcher's art and purveyors of the finest meat available anywhere—at any price.

With the Lobel's of New York online butcher shop, we can now extend our signature quality, service, and selection to customers in all 50 states.

We are proud to offer dry-aged USDA high-prime and Wagyu beef, all-natural veal, lamb, and poultry, Berkshire pork, and specialty products.

To ensure optimum flavor and freshness, each order is hand-cut, individually vacuum-sealed, securely packed, and delivered overnight—fresh from our hands to your door.

Our rigorous meat selection process differentiates our product from meat available in most stores. We only buy USDA prime beef, which accounts for less than 2% of all beef. Within the prime category, we take only the finest cuts, paying up to a 10% premium to get the best. We then dry age the beef up to six weeks, a process our family sees as an art.

Steaks, filets and roasts from Lobel's are unlike any others on the market, prompting a Wall Street Journal writer to note, “It was so perfect—in looks, taste, and texture—that we were tempted to eat it raw. The buttery flavor was beyond comparison.”

Our exacting quality standards are not limited to beef. We also offer USDA prime, all-natural lamb and fresh all-natural veal that is firm, moist, and velvety.

We've expanded our product lines to include Wagyu beef, Berkshire pork, all-natural poultry, artisanal sausages, sauces, condiments, specialty foods, and merchandise.

Lobel Family History

Our family has been purveyors of fine meats for six generations, and we pride ourselves on upholding the highest standards of quality and personal service.

Nathan Lobel began raising beef cattle in Austria in the 1840s. In 1911, Morris Lobel emigrated to the U.S. and opened a butcher shop that became the current Upper East Side institution.

From the beginning, Morris Lobel was obsessed with service and quality, instilling that same dedication in his sons Leon, Nathan, and Stanley.

Today, David, Mark, and Evan carry forward the family’s commitment to the highest quality standards and unmatched customer service.

The sixth generation has joined the ranks. Mark Lobel’s son, Brian, Evan Lobel’s daughter, Joey, and David Lobel's son, Michael now work alongside their family in the butcher shop.
