Welcome to the new Lobel’s Culinary Club.

In the years since we launched our Web site and online butcher shop, the Lobel’s Culinary Club has become the cornerstone of our communications with our customers old and new. Our e-mails span the latest news about products and promotions to help you plan peak dining experiences for family meals, special events, and casual entertaining.

A fundamental part of the Culinary Club content comes from our unique perspective as butchers on meat handling and preparation. And while there are many recipes to share, we want to help you go beyond specific recipes to a wider world of in-depth explorations of cooking techniques. When you understand the fundamentals, you are free to invent your own culinary masterpieces.

We believe the more you know about preparing the finest meat money can buy, the more you will enjoy serving it to your family and friends.

6 Ways to Make Appetizers Better with Bacon

Pretty much any great party has great appetizers or finger foods—whether they’re passed or plated hors d’oeuvres or a casual spread of one-bite snacks.

And the surefire way to make anything better is to just add bacon. The same holds true for appetizers as well. Here’s a list of 6 delicious ways to incorporate everyone’s culinary favorite into your next party spread.

 

1. Turn up the Heat with this Spicy Appetizer


Our friend Troy of T-Roy Cooks came up with this delicious party appetizer using Lobel’s Wild-Caught Jumbo Shrimp, Lobel’s Fruitwood Smoked Bacon, and Lobel’s New York Marinade. This one is a crowd-pleaser for sure. And Troy will show you how to make it, step by step.

2. Try this Bacon-Lover’s Recipe

Can you really have too much of a good thing? We think not. Kabobs are perfect for grilling for a festive summer gathering. And everyone loves bacon. This recipe for Pork Tenderloin Kabobs with Herbs and Bacon is a win-win.

3. Sweeten the Deal

 

How can you make bacon itself better than it already is? Make it sweet or savory or both. If you have never had the pleasure of candied bacon, try the following our recipe for Spicy Maple-Candied Bacon—you will enter a new reality. The simplest way: just add bacon. Truly–just take your favorite appetizer and add bacon! Stuffed dates? Wrap it in bacon. Shrimp? Wrap that in bacon! Stuffed jalapeños? You got it—wrap it in bacon. Or how about this one: Take succulent scallops up a notch by wrapping them in bacon. Then take them up another notch by grilling them. Your guests will be amazed.
